No Endorsements

According to Akamai Politics and The Notebook Senator Daniel Inouye will not be endorsing neither Neil Abercrombie nor Mufi Hanneman for the governor election until after the primaries.

Apparently he seems to be leaning towards Mufi Hanneman according to the blogs.

How strong is an endorsement anyway?

Abercrombie makes many statements either mentioning his connection to President Obama or using the President’s historic campaign as a frame of reference. But given the split on the President’s policies among the people, it may hurt more than help.

Abercrombie’s campaign logo is a modified version of Obama’s with “NEIL” inside the familar circle or “O”.

Piggybacking off such a popular campaign may seem unoriginal to voters.

However, it did help Mayor Billy Kenoi of the Big Island, perhaps. Kenoi’s slogan of “together we can” can still be seen on bumper stickers across Hilo.

After 8 years of Republican Governance- recycling the slogan “new beginnings” may be more helpful.
